What We Do

At Soul Initiatives, we believe in taking tangible actions to make a difference. From educational initiatives to hands-on conservation projects, here's a glimpse of what we do:

Educational Outreach:

We conduct weekly movie nights presenting educational documentaries at our dive center, educating both locals and visitors on the importance of marine conservation, waste management, and responsible tourism practices.
After the movie night, we brainstorm with the topic of the week

Waste Management

We actively engage in recycling various materials such as plastic, metal, and glass, while also utilizing organic waste in our backyard garden. To facilitate waste management, we repurpose old fuel containers for sorting different types of waste brought to the island. Education plays a pivotal role in our community, both locally and among our visiting customers. We conduct beach clean-ups during surface intervals between dives, inspiring local residents to maintain a waste-free environment. Like any educational endeavor, this process requires time and persistence. Our primary focus is on educating individuals to minimize plastic consumption on the island through mindful shopping practices, advocating the use of cardboard boxes and reusable bags over single-use alternatives. Looking ahead, we envision purchasing land and establishing a recycling center in Waisai. This facility would serve as a hub for organizing and repurposing various types of waste collected in the area. Currently, Waisai only has a landfill, which unfortunately resorts to burning waste. Visit our blog post for further insights.
